Curriculum, Resources & Publications

Delia Kench has played a key role in developing both curriculum direction and classroom resources used in IT education.

She developed a Coding & Robotics curriculum for Grades 8 and 9, aligned with the DBE draft curricula, with a strong focus on making new subject content practical and accessible for teachers in real classroom environments.

Alongside this, she has published and co-authored a range of textbooks since 1996, including the Exploring IT, CAT, and Coding & Robotics series. These resources continue to support teachers in delivering structured, relevant and up-to-date subject content.

“'I was very excited to receive the notification from Delia that she was setting up TeacherWorks. I have benefited hugely from her advice and input over the years and have enjoyed using her text books. TeacherWorks offers a great opportunity to connect with other teachers and it is a relief to have access to fresh resources and to be able to discuss various approaches to teaching the theoretical aspects of the IT syllabus. I am already finding the practical guidance for the management of the PATs a huge benefit. Thank you Delia, for always sharing your knowledge and experience so readily! ”

Jill Nocton-Smith

“'TeacherWorks is a new and innovative concept, created by Delia Kench. I have been teaching, moderating and marking for many years in the IEB system and still am benefiting from TeacherWorks. Delia is an awesome source of information, knowledge and expertise. She really wants teachers and students to improve their skills in the Information Technology subject. So she is compiling videos, assignments, notes and workshops to help you to improve as an IT teacher. Thank you Delia!”

“'TeacherWorks has been invaluable in building my confidence as an IT teacher. Delia’s vast experience and extensive subject knowledge makes her an excellent mentor - she points out all of the possible pitfalls, and more importantly, explains the best possible approach to teaching each section of the IT syllabus. TeacherWorks assists the novice teacher in ensuring they set the correct pace for their pupils and, for the more experienced teacher, it offers the safety net of a community of like-minded individuals who are looking for a way to work smarter.”
